⛩Ranni, often called the Moon Witch, is one of the most captivating characters in Elden Ring, both for the complexity of her lineage and the icy nobility of her spirit. Daughter of Radagon and Rennala, she was born into the conflict opposing the Lunar Magic to the Golden Grace of the Golden Order. From childhood, Ranni absorbed the knowledge of glintstone sorcery and the cold stellar power inherited from her mother, the high priestess of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Yet while other children of gods let themselves be consumed by the thirst for the throne, she chooses distance and silence, preferring study and reflection over conquest and bloodshed.
It is during the Night of the Black Knives, the tragic event in which Queen Marika loses her beloved Godwyn the Golden, that Ranni performs the act that alters the balance of the world. Refusing to become a tool of the Greater Will, she abandons her mortal body and binds her soul to a magical doll, an ethereal form draped in a sky-blue mantle. This choice, seemingly desperate, is in truth a declaration of will: to escape the chains of Fate and offer humanity a path free from the grip of the gods. In her gaze, behind the cold glint of crystal, shines a kind of cosmic empathy, a quiet affection for those who, like her, walk alone in the shadows of the Erdtree. Ranni never raises her voice, yet every word weighs heavily, every silence echoes, and her mere presence brings a disturbing serenity to the world. Through her, Elden Ring tells the triumph of an ideal: the pursuit of free will and the promise of a new Age of Stars.
